Checkers is a board game for two players. The object of checkers is to leave your opponent with no legal moves. You can do this either by removing all of your opponent’s pieces from the board or by blockading their pieces so that they cannot move legally.

Checkers Rules and Strategy

Man Movement
Checkers is only played on the dark squares of the board. A piece may move one square at a time, diagonally.
Man Jumping
If one of your pieces is next to one of your opponent’s pieces and the diagonal square beyond it is free, you are required to jump over the opponent’s piece. The opponent’s piece is then removed from the board. As opportunity arises, it is possible to jump many times in a row on the same move — capturing several of your opponent’s pieces.
King Movement and Jumping
In the beginning, pieces can only move and jump forward. However, if a piece reaches the far end of the board, it becomes a King. A King is signified by stacking two checkers one on top of the other. A King has special moves and is allowed to move and jump diagonally backwards and forwards. Kings can be captured like any other piece.
